So when the foreclosure reaches the auction stage; can your home be saved witha loan modification?

Yes, theoretically it can still be saved by a loan modification at this point. But depending on the state, the owner may not have much time to secure the loan modification once the auction is scheduled. On the other hand, lenders are much more sensitive to being accommodating to homeowners seeking loan modification and may be willing to postpone the auction if the owner is taking steps to secure a modification.
