I put an offer on a short sale and got a counter-offer from the bank. I am still waiting to hear back from the bank after I submitted my own counter-offer. The bank told me they would have an answer for me soon. However, on RealtyTrac, I see that the same house is now in foreclosure and has an auction date. What does that mean?

It means that the property is moving through the normal foreclosure process and an auction notice has been filed. Just because a property is being offered for short sale does not "stop" the foreclosure process. You should try contacting the bank or the listing agent to find out where your offer stands.

Thanks.

My realtor has been in constant contact with seller agent. Sellar agent has been calling bank negotiator everyother day and gets the response "I will respond when ready".

i hope every thing works out. I'm glad I found this site as I might be able to buy it in auction.
