I'm looking for info for home value acceptable for a bank balance reduction. I looked at zillow.com and found a value, but it was lower. I wanted to find a comparison as well as what type of home value appraisal acceptable to receive a bank balance reduction

Thanks for question. Couple suggestions for you:

1. Use the free RealtyTrac Stats & Trends Center to check the average sales price of foreclosure properties in your area, down to the zip code level. You'll want to type in your zip code at the top of the page, click "Search Trends" and then click on the "Sales Trends" tab once your zip code info comes up. You may need to scroll down a bit on the Sales Trends tab to get to the average foreclosure sales prices. Below is a video showing how to do this.

There is a free guest membership required to view this information, but no credit card is required.

2. Find a local foreclosure expert agent to help you through this process. You can find such an agent through the RealtyTrac Agent Network. Search for an agent here: http://www.realtytrac.com/agents/leads/form.aspx

3. Enter the address of your home in the search on the RealtyTrac home page and you'll see what estimated value we have for it, along with nearby foreclosures and comparable sales.
