Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm sure after all the smoke clears, everything is going to be OK for you. There are a lot of details that need to be considered in order to answer your question. Another thing, seeking the opinions of anonymous people on the internet will most likely just get you upset for no reason because at the end of the day, they really do not matter. Please understand that I am not an attorney and this should not be construed as legal advice.
Based on my research related to similar events, I would do the following if I were in your shoes:
1) I would start by contacting my client who sent me the work order and ask to talk to their legal department.
2) Contact my errors and omissions insurance company to tell them I need to discuss a possible claim. Hopefully, they would be able to handle everything without any further involvement from me.
3) I would also look online for a local attorney who specializes in real estate law. I would meet with the attorney and tell the person what happened and that I was acting as an agent of my client. I would give this lawyer all the contact info for my client, my insurance company, the plaintiff's attorney and any other related info. I would also mention that the mortgagor temporarily kidnapped me and that I was afraid for my life and that perhaps I should be the one suing for distress.
4) Contact the plaintiff's attorney and ask if I could send him (or her) a copy of my work order where my client specifically instructed me to complete the initial services. I would approach the attorney as if I was also a "victim" of the circumstances. I would make sure to briefly mention that I was scared to death when the mortgagor was holding me against my will.
That is what I would do if I were in your situation. It pretty much covers everything I could possibly do to protect myself, that is actually within my control.
Unfortunately, the wheels of the justice system move rather slowly and even if you're NOT at fault, you still have to go through the motions. Good luck and please keep me posted either here or at the Property Preservation Industry News Blog

i am a property preservation vendor. i am being sued by homeowner for doing initial secure/ lock change 17 days prior to auction date.

i am a property preservation vendor. i am being sued by homeowner for doing initial secure/ lock change 17 days prior to auction date. the homeowner is suing for Trespass to land, Intrusion, Negligence, Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress and negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress. I Changed the locks, packed any personal items nicely and carefully into boxes and bags and moved into garage, i did an initial grass cut and when i was about to leave the home, a man blocked me in the driveway and forced me to stay in the garage until the homeowner and police arrive. they showed up question me, ran my name and told me to go home. so was i allowed to be in the home at all at anytime before the trustees sale date?
